Dedicated to Serving Pets & Their People

Meet Jen G. Pywell

Dog Trainer, Animal Communicator & Tapping Practitioner

Jen is a certified professional dog trainer (CPDT-KA), Modern Energy Tapping practitioner, and animal communicator serving clients online and in Corvallis, Oregon.

A Different Path to Dog Training

My journey into compassionate dog training began with a painful lesson. After hiring a trainer who recommended shock and prong collars for my own dogs, I watched their anxiety increase and felt our trust erode. I left each session distressed, but I ignored my intuition because I trusted the "professional."

Everything changed when I met Draco, a Doberman I was walking who became one of my greatest teachers. Draco gave me my first experience with animal communication and led me to my mentor, Roman Gottlieb of Holistic Dog Training (HDT). Roman taught me that working with dogs starts with respect, safety, trust, and compassion—not force.

I deepened my education through L.E.G.S. Family Dog Mediation (FDM) and earned my CPDT-KA certification while working at Wonder Dogs in Corvallis, Oregon. But as I worked with more families facing challenging behaviors like fear, aggression, and reactivity, I realized something was missing: a tool to address the emotional side of dog training—for both dogs and their people.

Discovering Tapping

Tapping (also known as EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique) changed my life. Twenty years after surviving the 9/11 attacks, I was still struggling with PTSD, depression, anxiety, insomnia, and bipolar disorder. Traditional therapy helped manage symptoms, but the negative emotions remained stored in my body, affecting everything.

Working with tapping coach Karen Aquinas, I experienced rapid and profound healing from my trauma. I knew I had to share this powerful tool with others, especially dog parents navigating the stress of living with fearful or reactive dogs.

Stress is an epidemic in our culture—and modern life is making our dogs stressed out, too. Having a stressed dog creates stress for us. It's a cycle that needs breaking.

I became certified in Modern Energy Tapping to help both humans and dogs discover peaceful lives together.

Listening to What Animals Have to Say

After clients kept saying "I wish my dog could talk!" I remembered the day Draco first spoke to me. Our pets can communicate with us—we just need to listen. I began a mentorship with Terri O'Hara to develop my skills as an animal communicator, adding another dimension to my work helping people understand their dogs.

Today, I combine dog training, tapping, and animal communication to support dog parents in creating calm, confident, trust-filled relationships with their dogs.

I live in Corvallis with my husband Jon and my three dogs, a husky mix named Hans and two chihuahua mixes D (pictured) & Sheridan. I enjoy Cuban salsa, Qi Gong, hiking in the forest, soaking in hot springs, meditating, going to the farmers market, reading about dogs and spirituality and spending our winters with our dogs in Todos Santos, Mexico watching whales and eating baja fish tacos.
